Our story begins seven decades ago — not with weapons, but with springs.

Stumpp Schuele & Somappa (SSS) was founded to serve India's nascent automotive industry, and over the decades that followed, we evolved from a component manufacturer into a first-source designer and manufacturer of precision springs for the automotive sector. Engineering was never just a profession here — it was a full-time passion. Nation-building was never an aspiration — it was a lifelong obligation.

We grew in scale without outgrowing our values. Employees, partners, and customers were not stakeholders to be managed — they were family to be welcomed into everything we built.

The transition to a second generation of promoters in the 1990s brought the rigour of a professional organisation, without surrendering the values that only family ownership tends to protect. That balance — discipline and character in equal measure — remains our defining trait.

Since the early 2000s, SSS has held its position as India's largest spring manufacturer and one of the most respected names in the auto ancillary sector. Growth came, as it does when foundations are strong. But the ambition to build a stronger Bharat never left our DNA.

And so, in 2017 — coinciding with a decisive turning point in India's polity, economy, and national confidence — SSS Defence was born.

SSS Defence did not follow a trend. We set a benchmark.

At a time when established global OEMs were consolidating market share and guarding legacy positions, we invested in R&D from first principles — applying advanced engineering tools and modern design methodologies to build weapon systems that are genuinely Indian, not merely branded as such.

In less than a decade, SSS Defence has become India's only OEM with a full-spectrum Hard Kill portfolio: from pistols and submachine guns to long-range precision rifles, and ammunition products across all major calibres from small to medium. We do not licence. We do not rebadge. We design, develop, and manufacture.

Our deep-tech platform — VARAHA — extends this doctrine into the third dimension. Integrating deep-space sensing physics with advanced AI/ML algorithms, VARAHA detects, classifies, and localises unmanned aerial threats — enabling precise, effective hard kills against drone-borne threats. This capability is shared by only a handful of companies worldwide.

We are building toward a clear and uncompromising vision: to be in the league of the most respected defence OEMs globally — worthy of the trust of armed forces, special operations units, and law enforcement agencies, and competitive on every stage where capability and character are the measure.
